Demonstrator
To validate the methods developed for joinability in adaptable process chains, a demonstrator assembly will be created as part of the planned TRR. In joining technology, various components have become established in numerous research projects related to lightweight construction, including the T-joint made of two hat profiles, which has been intensively pursued at LWF and will be continued in the TRR. This joint forms the structural connection between, for example, the B-pillar and the sill or a roof cross-beam connection in rail vehicles. For the purposes of a fundamental investigation, the T-joint is an assembly and the hat profiles are the components, which in turn consist of the semi-finished products hat and strike plate. When testing these components, it is important that the test boundary conditions, e.g., for static, quasi-static, cyclic, or impact loading, are defined in such a way that the connections are tested without component failure. In addition, the components made of different materials must be as easy to manufacture as possible. Since the strike plates are geometrically flat, the three material groups mentioned at the beginning with different forming capabilities can be used for this purpose. The demonstrator assembly ultimately represents the transition to the real component. The individual working groups must therefore develop measures and guidelines for the development of comparable numerical and experimental test setups. In cooperation with all participating institutes, the stress and deformation states of the planned assembly with its joints can thus be evaluated both in experiments and in simulations.
