Technology
The WG “Technology” working group develops, describes, and analyzes new and adaptable processes for joining components, as well as innovative methods for measuring characteristic process variables. Various joining techniques are used, both with and without auxiliary joining parts, and with a high degree of adaptability. In order to fully understand the joining element life cycle, it is therefore essential to focus on testing methods that are appropriate for the joining process. In particular, the non-destructive testing methods to be investigated, both during the joining process (in situ) and after the joining process (ex situ), will help to uncover the complex causal relationships involved in the manufacture of damaged force- and form-fitting connections. From this, suitable measures for quality assurance in mechanical joining technology will be derived. Newly developed and refined measurement methods are used to improve the detection of internal and external surfaces and boundaries (e.g., on joint elements or cracks) and to improve sensor technology for more precise detection of joining process parameters during joining.
